As the countdown to the Comrades Marathon 2026 continues, the Klerksdorp Marathon Club family gathered on the 3rd of June 2026 at Verdant for a memorable evening at the annual Comrades Send-Off Dinner – and what a special occasion it was!

The evening was filled with laughter, friendship, inspiration and excitement as club members, supporters and athletes came together to celebrate the incredible journey that has brought our runners to the starting line of the Ultimate Human Race.

A highlight of the evening was the inspirational address by Prof. Bertus le Roux, Head of the Centre for Health and Human Performance (CHHP) at NWU.

His insightful message, combined with his own remarkable endurance achievements, provided valuable motivation and perspective as our athletes prepare for race day.

The club was also proud to present each Comrades runner with a special KMC shirt as a token of support and recognition for the dedication, sacrifice, and discipline shown throughout the season.

Adding to the warm atmosphere was a delicious meal enjoyed by all, creating the perfect opportunity for members to connect, share stories and celebrate the spirit that makes Klerksdorp Marathon Club such a special family.
